Elevation Furniture

Who

j Elevation furniture was established in 1994 by Jonathan Perrott after graduating from Central St Martins School of Art and Designs Product / Industrial design department.

As a designer and maker I am dedicated to the production of high quality pieces of bespoke contempory furniture and interior spaces for private and commercial clients.

This online portfolio is intended to provide an overview of my approach to a range of projects expressed by clients. All pieces being the result of a collaborative process with the client from commission to delivery.

Commissioning

Each project begins with an informal ( and free ) initial consultation. This initial discussion will normally take place in the intended environment for the piece. The aim of this meeting is to define the clients needs and preferences. The conversation may revolve around existing pieces of furniture and spaces, pieces in my portfolio, or any other object which might establish parameters for the brief. The budget range for the project should also be considered at this point.

Designing

My role is to interpret your needs and preferences into a viable solution that is unique to you. The varying strands of information gathered during the initial consultation directs this process. It is about realising objects that add something genuinely special to clients lives. Having seen my work it will be clear that while I am influenced by contempory aesthetics I am not limited by them. Much of my work involves realising modern living styles which appear effortless within the feel of traditional spaces. My technical training and experience as a maker all combine to inform my design work.

Design Fee

For large projects or complex proposals, a design fee will be applicable. This is a reflection of the time required to prepare designs and costings. It will always be made clear in advance if the design process will be charged for.

Proposal

My design solutions and estimated costs for the project are presented for discussion. Client feedback and input in this process defines whether design / material modifications are required. It is the resolution of these points that allow the project to move to a final written quotation. The quotation will detail manufacturing / workshop labour costs, materials, finishes, transport, start / delivery dates and payment methods. An estimate for all site based installation costs will be provided.

Production

Furniture makers and their clients need patience. The process from consultation to delivery can often take several months. Usually a deposit of 50% is required and this books the production into my schedule. The remaining 50% will be paid on delivery. For larger projects a staged payment schedule can be agreed for either party. The need to meet specific deadlines or time projects to coincide with other trades that may be working on a larger project must be established at the outset.
